San Diego library pays tribute to Filipino culture

On April 11, the Chula Vista Public Library in San Diego, California will showcase a new collection of materials on Filipino culture, including books in Tagalog. Local author Patricia Justiniani McReynolds, who is of Filipino and Norwegian heritage, will be the keynote speaker. Steve Yagyagan, a former vice president of the Filipino American National Historic Society, and David Palmer, assistant city manager and library director, will also participate in the celebration. The library is at 1120 EastLake Parkway, Chula Vista, on the EastLake High School campus. When the Rancho Del Rey library is built, the collection will be housed there, Palmer said. After the event, the books and DVDs will be available for checkout. For more information, call the EastLake Branch at (619) 656-0314. www.signonsandiego.com
