Fine-dining Pinoy resto opens in Singapore

A Filipino restaurant named “7,107 Flavours" is now serving fine-dining aficionados in Singapore. No less than Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the restaurant located in the upscale Marina Mall, across from the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center (Suntec). Around the location are premium hotels such as the Marina Mandarin, Oriental Singapore, Conrad Hotel and the Pan Pacific Singapore. Singapore-based Filipino entrepreneurs Noel Perdigon and Pen Villanueva put up the restaurant with Malaysian businesswoman Elaine Teh. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Belen F. Anota reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday that 7,101 Flavours, named after the number of islands in the Philippines, “is the first and only Filipino restaurant in Singapore catering to fine-dining aficionados that also concurrently serves as a travel café by day." She said Tourism Undersecretary Ed Jarque also graced the restaurant’s opening and enjoyed the sumptuous dinner fare and vibrant fashion and cultural show presented by noted Filipino couturier Renée Salud and the Sindaw Dance Company. Members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, representatives from the business sector and members of the Filipino community present raved about the crispy lechon de leche and its accompanying liver sauce, the flavorful kare-kare with its bagoong, so similar to the local balachan, the tanigue with garlic butter sauce as well as sweet offerings of ube halaya, leche flan, maja blanca and the halo-halo. “’7,107 Flavours’ has been inundated with request for bookings throughout the month, Ambassador Anota said. “Filipinos in Singapore have finally found a place to entertain their corporate guests and clients, and Singaporeans now have a window to the exciting nouvelle cuisine of the Philippines," she added. The opening of the restaurant forms part of the commemoration in Singapore of the 109th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence last month. - GMANews.TV
