Ouija prepares for world premiere; sequel to be shot abroad


"OUIJA" has surely succeeded in many levels. Rated A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB), "Ouija" is out to prove that the Filipino movie industry is alive and well. Needless to say, "Ouija" is a well-crafted and well-executed film. It was the consensus of the CEB members that director Topel Lee succeeds in his second full-length feature. Thus, there was the unanimous decision to give the film a tax incentive with the significant majority of the board voting to give the movie an "A." Crucially competing with two Hollywood films that were expected to be blockbusters, "Ouija" raked in the most sales on its opening day alone. The first attempt of GMA Films at horror was a complete success as it is now a certified blockbuster, earning P60 million in gross sales in its first week. Critics and viewers everywhere have agreed that the direction of the film is impressive. The editing is fast paced and the fade-to-black and cut-to-cut technique adds to the distinctive style of the film. Aside from this, the film has been praised for its spectacular cinematography and flawless musical scoring. The storytelling of Topel Lee has been praised, and viewers have been raving about the unique twist of the movie. The whole cast delivered excellent performances. Camiguin provided a beautiful backdrop for the plot and the story is outstanding. All of these have contributed to the masterpiece that "Ouija" is. Due to the box office and critical success of the movie, an "Ouija" sequel is being planned this early. Top-billed by no less than Judy Ann Santos and Jolina Magdangal still, and to be shot abroad, "Ouija" will haunt us once again in the future – much to the excitement of many Filipino moviegoers. To add, Iza Calzado and Rhian Ramos will have cameo performances in the "Ouija" sequel being cooked up, too! The commendable young director who was at the helm of "Ouija" will be the one to direct its upcoming sequel. It is raining compliments for the new director who has instantly gained loads of new fans through his work in "Ouija." Co-producers GMA Films and Viva Films are now gearing up for the "Ouija" world premiere – the first time for GMA Films and first time for both young actresses, Judy Ann Santos and Jolina Magdangal in their almost two decades in the business. First stop will be in Seattle on September 29; September 30 in San Diego; and October 7 in Orlando. Then, the performers will continue with "Lovespeak: The US Concert Tour" on October 12 in Las Vegas and October 14 in Carlson.
