OFWs leaving families is top OWWA problem in R7
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 7 on Tuesday said that abandonment of families by overseas Filipino workers is No.1 problem in Region 7, GMA Balitang Bisdak reported. OWWA 7 records show that 46 cases of abandonment have been reported this year. According to the report, âabandoned" families usually ask OWWA for financial assistance, and that most of OFWs who abandon their families are men. Some guidance counselors at University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR), Cebu City, said that OFWs who had problems with marital relations before going abroad are likely to abandon their families. Most of private colleges and universities in Cebu have special counseling unit for children of OFWs. - GMANews.TV
