Joseph Ejercito Estrada
Ousted President Joseph Estrada, 70, who was convicted of plunder by the Sandiganbayan on September 12, has been granted executive clemency by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday. ISSUES- Guilty of plunder. Former President Joseph Estrada, 70, was found "guilty beyond reasonable doubt" of plunder, and sentenced to serve up to 40 years in prison. He was acquitted of perjury and the Sandiganbayan allowed him to return to his Tanay, Rizal resthouse, "until further notice."
