Pinoys warned vs fake hospital in UAE offering jobs

Filipino health professionals who are planning to work in the United Arab Emirates should be warned about a non-existent hospital offering online jobs and too-good-to-be-true salaries and benefits. In an email, Byan Brecio, an overseas Filipino worker in Dubai, said that the non-existent General Dubai Hospital (GDH) is offering jobs all over the globe through its website. Brecio said he was alerted about the hoax when a friend from the Philippines had called to inquire about the jobs the said hospital is offering. A daily newspaper in Dubai, XPRESS, in its banner story on September 6, 2007 entitled “Fake Hospital Offering Jobs," reported that GDH is hoax. It said that individuals behind the fraud have put up a website www.generalhospitaldubai.org, duplicating the homepage of the genuine Oasis Hospital except the contact numbers and the names of officers. The Oasis Hospital has already put a fraud warning on its homepage saying “www.generalhospitaldubai.org is a fraudulent website that has duplicated our website and is busy using it for fraudulent transactions. Please do not be misled!" The GDH homepage looks like the Oasis homepage except for some missing details such the main photo of the hospital and contact numbers. Moreover, the map icon on the navigation bar of the fake website is disabled. Clicking on the map icon on the Oasis Hospital leads the user to the exact location of the hospital in Al Ain. An official at Oasis Hospital was quoted by XPRESS as saying "We came to know of it [fraud] a month back when we started receiving calls from people. We have reported the case to the police." An Indian medical doctor in Saudi Arabia reportedly received a letter from the fake hospital offering him a job with good salary and benefits. But the doctor found the offer incredulous. "I was offered a salary of nearly $10,000 [Dh36,700] monthly, a five-room flat in Dubai, and a 2006 model Camry, among others," the doctor was quoted as saying. - GMANews.TV
