Pinoys pooling funds for OFW slain in Canada

The Filipino community in Canada gathered to raise funds to bring home the remains of a 27-year-old Filipina who worked as a housekeeper in Mississauga City. Radio dzRH reported that Filipino and Ifugao associations based in Canada gathered at the Ontario Community Center Sunday morning (Manila time) to raise funds for Jocelyn Dulnuan who was found dead on October 1 in a Mississauga mansion in Toronto, Canada. They said they decided to act after consul general to Canada Alejandro Mosquera said he had to ask for funds from the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila to repatriate the body. Also, the associations and militant workers’ group Migrante International said they are “coordinating" with local police to solve the murder. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said Dulnuan was considered an undocumented worker, having stopped paying her dues since moving to Canada from Hong Kong. Dulnuan, who was from Namulditan village in Hingyon, Ifugao, moved to Canada from Hong Kong last year. Her mother still reportedly works as a helper in Hong Kong. Police suspect foul play in her death. Homicide investigators from the Peel police district said the $15-million mansion at Doulton Place was targeted for burglary. - GMANews.TV
