Note: The OFW Family Club is a non-profit, non-stock, private foundation that was organized by the family of former Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Roy V. Señeres to cater to the needs of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families in the Philippines. This non-governmental organization truly helps OFWs in distress. More than providing the much-needed assistance to problems that are brought to them, they offer a second home to Filipinos living and working abroad. The complaints and concern they encounter varies from legal to personal…and they all cater to them the best way they can. Mr. Señeres find it necessary to start this group after working as a Labor Attaché and eventually Ambassador in UAE. The diplomat and his whole family were exposed to the reality that so many Filipinos encounter problems while working abroad. They saw the struggle of our countrymen to survive in a foreign land. Because of this, OFW Family Club is a joint effort of Mr. Señeres, his wife, and children. Their center at Buendia Avenue, Pasay City is open from Monday to Saturday. Every Wednesday and Friday, they give a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar to guide aspiring OFWs in the recruitment process. Once a week (every Saturday), they have volunteer lawyers who offer free legal advice and services. Their group mostly acts as a mediator between the complainant and proper authorities. OFW Family Club aims to improve the lives of overseas Filipino workers and their families by providing livelihood development programs that will make Filipinos financially independent and stable. At a time when our country is in turmoil, organization such as the OFW Family Club is one of the few good news that makes us all confident that perhaps, better days are soon to come. To contact OFW Family Club, you can call them at 526-7515 or visit their center at Unit 101 Taft Office Buendia Avenue, Pasay City Philippines. - Carmela Bignotia, OFW Guide
