UP journalism professor wins Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro

Yvonne Chua, a journalism professor at the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Mass Communication, has won the 2020 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro.

The prestigious award recognizes UP faculty members with outstanding achievements while demonstrating honor and excellence in teaching, research, and public service.

Chua, a veteran journalist, has been teaching at the College of Mass Communication for more than 24 years.

Some of the courses she teaches in the college are investigative journalism, data journalism, fact-checking, journalism ethics and specialized reporting.

She is a co-founder of nonprofit news media organization VERA Files, and she was formerly a training director at the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ). —Angelica Y. Yang/MGP, GMA News
