Senate shortens work hours on Traslacion Day

The work hours in the Senate of the Philippines on Tuesday has been shortened amid the 2024 Traslacion procession.

“Senate President Juan Miguel F. Zubiri has instructed that work in the Senate shall only be until 2:00 p.m. today, January 9,2024,” an advisory issued by Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. read.

All committee hearings, technical working group and other meetings may continue and assigned Senate staff for these hearings may still assist unless otherwise directed by the chairperson of the panel.

Staff members under the Office of the Sergeant-At Arms and the Maintenance and General Services Bureau who follow shifting schedules, however, are excluded in the shortened work hours.

The Senate of the Philippines is located at the GSIS Building in Pasay City which is adjacent to Manila where the Traslacion is currently being held.

According to Quiapo Church, the crowd estimate as of 10:00 a.m. today has breached the 1 million mark.
