Woman arrested for drunk driving in Cavite attacks cop

A woman in Imus, Cavite is facing multiple complaints after she attacked the policeman who accosted her for drunk driving.

In Marisol Abdurahmann’s 24 Oras report Tuesday, the 29-year old suspect is seen in a video shouting and slapping by the arresting cop. She attempted to kick him even when she was handcuffed.

“Nakainom nga ‘yung driver. Gusto man nila ng mahinahon na gawin ang kanilang tungkulin itong driver ay masyadong unruly na,” said Imus City police chief Lt P/Col. Jack Angog. He added the driver tested positive for alcohol after a breathalyzer test.

Angog said a team was requested by traffic enforcers to assist with a traffic accident. At the scene they encountered the woman.

(The driver was intoxicated. They wanted to arrest her peacefully but she was very unruly.)

Police Staff Sergeant Andrew Garingo, the arresting officer, sustained visible scratches following the incident.

“Kinukuha ko po yung susi n’ya kasi ayaw ko pong pang drive-in kasi siya ay nakainom.  Baka maka disgrasya pa po,” said Garingo.

(I was trying to get her keys because I did not want her to drive in the condition she was in. She could have caused an accident)

The suspect admitted to hurting the police officer also driving drunk and without a license.

“Sabi ko sasama naman po ako, eh bigla po akong pinosasan. Nabwisit na po kasi ako. Sabi ko ‘bitawan n’yo ako. Eh nasasaktan na ako eh’.  Eh di sinaktan ko nalang din sila. Kinurot kurot ko sila dun,” she said.

(I told them I was willing to go with them but they handcuffed me. That angered me. I told them to let go of me and that I was getting hurt. They didn’t so I hurt them back.)

The city police said they would pursue charges against the suspect.—Sundy Locus/RF, GMA Integrated News
