GMA Network chairman Felipe L. Gozon serves as guest speaker at Central United Methodist Church's 125th anniversary

GMA Network Chairman Felipe L. Gozon was the special guest speaker during the 125th-anniversary celebration of the Philippines' first Protestant church, the Central United Methodist Church (CUMC), in Ermita, Manila.

On Sunday, the CUMC congregation marked its 125th founding anniversary with a celebration and worship, with Gozon delivering a special anniversary message.

Gozon recounted the history of how the church played a vital role in his life as a protestant and his family. He also cited similarities between CUMC and GMA Network.

"We share with CUMC the basic doctrines of our Christian faith and the values of integrity and stewardship," Gozon said. "The first in our seven Core Values is: 'We Place God Above All.'"

"We have helped millions of Filipinos in need through our relief, construction of classrooms and bridges, bloodletting, give-a-gift, medical, alay sa kinabukasan to our school children projects, among others," he said.

Aside from Gozon, among the attendees during the anniversary celebration were Gozon's wife, Teresa Gozon, and their three children, Annette Gozon-Valdes, Philip Gozon, and Maritess Gozon-Viterbo with their respective spouses.

In an interview with GMA Integrated News, Gozon said he is "very proud and honored" to have been invited as a guest speaker for CUMC.

In 2022, Gozon received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa, in the same Methodist church. The occasion marked the first time an individual from the private sector was awarded such an honor.

In December last year, Gozon stepped down as the CEO of GMA Network, but he remains chairman of the board and will continue to serve as an adviser to the company.
