Pinoys invited to San Francisco Heritage Night


The Philippine Consulate General here invites Filipinos in the Bay Area to join the first San Francisco Giants Filipino Heritage Night on May 14 at the AT&T Park. The first-ever Filipino Heritage Night at a San Francisco Giants game is a special events game that will highlight and give tribute to the culture of the Filipino community in the Bay Area as the SF Giants take on the Houston Astros. Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. said that the first Filipino Heritage Night by the San Francisco Giants is a testament and recognition to the growing influence of the Filipino community in the Bay Area. "I urge our kababayans in San Francisco and the Bay Area to come to AT&T Park to watch the San Francisco Giants on May 14 to display your support to the team and to your heritage," he said. Pre-game and in-game entertainment will feature Filipino cultural dances by Bay Area-based cultural groups such as the Barangay Dance Company of San Francisco, the Hiyas Philippine Folk Dance Company and the Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble. Cultural entertainment begins at 5 p.m. at the Willie Mays Plaza of the AT&T Park, while the ballgame will start at 7:15 p.m. The Special Event tickets are on sale for $20 for a seat at the Filipino Heritage Night Section and a limited edition Filipino Heritage Night t-shirt. The Filipino American Arts Exposition (FAAE) will also host a fund-raising reception to kick off its 2008 Pistahan season and to raise funds to bring a Jeepney from the Philippines for the Pistahan Parade.
