Over 1.2M overseas Filipino voters registered for Election 2025
Over 1.2 million votes from registered overseas Filipino voters are expected for the 2025 midterm elections.
Citing Commission on Elections (Comelec) data compiled by GMA Integrated News Research, Susan Enriquez reported Monday that there are a total of 1,241,690 registered overseas Filipino voters.
The United Arab Emirates holds the highest number of registered overseas voters with 189,892, followed by the United States with 178,033 voters.
Meanwhile, Belarus, Gambia, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, North Macedonia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Martin, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines recorded one voter each.
For the 2025 midterm elections, Comelec enabled internet voting in 77 Philippine embassies and consulates the world over to make voting more accessible for overseas Filipino voters. This is the first time overseas Filipino voters were able to cast their ballots online.
The 30-day voting period for registered Filipino overseas voters kicked off on April 13 and will end on May 12, 7 p.m., coinciding with the closing of the voting period in the Philippines.
In the 2022 election, a total of 1.679 million overseas Filipinos cast their vote, with voter turnout reaching 40.59%. Moreover, Syria (Damascus) recorded the highest voter turnout at 76.36%, followed by Morocco (Rabat) at 75.28%, Sweden (Stockholm) at 69.57%, Santiago at 68.88%, and Switzerland at 66.92%, according to Comelec data.
