Jinggoy Estrada's son Julian on Boracay assault: It was unprovoked

Julian Ejercito, the son of Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, broke his silence after getting assaulted in Boracay over the weekend.

As seen in Vicky Morales' report in "24 Oras" on Monday, Julian, through a post on his Facebook account, shared a selfie of himself showing his injuries in the face.

In his statement, Julian said that there was "no fight involved."

"To set the record straight there was no fight. It was an unprovoked attack," Julian said.

According to Julian, he and his cousin Jefferelly Vitug or Jelo were just walking away and heading home from a peaceful night when a local suddenly approached them, hurled some words, and threw the first punch.

"What followed wasn't a scuffle, it was a group jumping and yet people online were so quick to say 'deserved,' 'buti nga.' Funny how loud people get when they're hiding behind screens... twisting a story they weren't even there for," he said.

Julian clarified that it wasn't some bar fight and that he and Jelo weren't looking for any trouble.

"We sure as hell didn't start any but it's easier I guess for strangers to believe the version that fits their bias. It's easier to hate than to ask what really happened," he said.

Julian urged the public to verify the truth first before "speaking on someone else's pain."

"To everyone who checked in, messaged or simply kept it real, thank you. Your support didn't go unnoticed. I'm taking time to rest and move forward. That's all there is to it," he said.

Earlier, Estrada said that Julian and Jelo, who were on vacation in Boracay, were on their way home from a bar when three suspects attacked them from behind.

Julian sustained a blow to the head and one of his toenails chipped off after he was repeatedly kicked after falling down. His cousin sustained an injury to the nose.

Estrada said he flew to Boracay on Sunday and they had filed charges against the suspects.
