Anti-corruption rallyists march from EDSA Shrine to People Power Monument
Anti-corruption protests related to the anomalous flood control projects continues on Saturday when rallyists marched along EDSA to the People Power Monument.
Reporting for Super Radyo dzBB, Mark Makalalad said the protesters marched from the EDSA Shrine at the corner of Ortigas Avenue and arrived at the People Power Monument along White Plains Avenue at around 10 a.m.
At the monument, the protesters began their programs. Taking part in the activities were various groups that included Bayan NCR, Anakbayan, Kabataan, Panday Sining and several others.
The rallyists demanded the end of the country’s suffering and that those involved in systematic corruption in government be brought to justice.
Due to the large number of protesters, a sizable contingent of police officers were deployed to provide security around the People Power Monument.
Due to the ongoing protest activity, one lane of White Plains Ave. was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic. Motorists experienced a slow down in travel time along the westbound of the road leading to EDSA.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the program ended at around noon and was "generally peaceful" with no untoward incidents. It estimated the size of the crowd at approximately 300 people. — RF, GMA Integrated News
