Marikina River now at 1st alarm as water goes down to 15 meters

The water level at Marikina River has been downgraded to first alarm on Sunday morning, August 30, after it subsided to 15 meters.

As of 9:22 a.m., the water level went down to 15.9 meters. This is a downgrade from the 16.0 meters recorded at 9 a.m., where it was still at second alarm.

Continuous heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat caused the water to rise at Marikina River on Saturday until early Sunday.

Under Marikina City's alert system, the first alarm is raised when the water level reaches 15 meters above sea level, prompting affected residents to prepare for possible evacuation.

The second alarm is hoisted at 16 meters, prompting preemptive evacuation, while the third alarm is raised at 18 meters, signaling mandatory evacuation.
