Fire near Baclaran LRT line reaches Task Force Alpha


(Updated 10:25 p.m.) A fire that started at around 8 p.m. Tuesday in a residential area in Bagong Lipunan near the Baclaran LRT station has reached Task Force Alpha and continues to rage as of this posting, said Fire Officer 1 Deniega of the Pasay City Central Fire Station.
  Deniega told GMA News Online over the phone that they deployed firefighters and engines to the site at around 8:20 p.m. They are still trying to contain the fire as of this posting.   The Metro Manila Development Authority tweeted that as of 8:33 p.m, the fire had reached alarm level four.

The fire forced the Light Rail Transit Line 1 to limit its operations between the Buendia and Roosevelt Stations, said LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera said.   “Fire near Baclaran Terminal (is) affecting LRT-1 operations. (We will) be implementing degraded operation - Buendia to Roosevelt and back only,” he said on his Twitter account.   The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the fire occurred at a residential area at the Bagong Lipunan area near the LRT terminal.   A separate report by radio dzBB’s Roland Bola said the fire started at 8:05 p.m. and reached Task Force Alpha as of 10 p.m.    The origin and cause of the fire will be determined by investigation after it is extinguished, Deniega said. — Amanda Lago/VS, GMA News
