DPWH: Road repairs to cause heavy traffic in parts of NCR this weekend

Repairs on some major roads in Metro Manila may mean headaches for motorists and commuters again this weekend, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.

The DPWH said on its website that the road improvement and maintenance works will start at 10 p.m. of Friday, Feb. 17, up to 4 a.m. of Monday, Feb. 20.

“Motorists and the general public are advised to expect traffic slowdown/build-up in some sections of major thoroughfares in Metro Manila,” it said.

It said the roads to be repaired this weekend include:

Taft Avenue (cluster), Pasay City, from Sto Niño St. to EDSA under supervision of South Manila Engineering District Office;
Aurora Boulevard (southbound), Pasay City from EDSA to Andrews Avenue under supervision of South Manila Engineering District Office;
New Panaderos St., Sta. Ana, Manila, from Sta. Ana Church to Lamayan St. under supervision of South Manila Engineering District;
South Superhighway (southbound) from Zobel Roxas St. to Qurino Avenue under South Manila Engineering District;
P. Tramo Avenue between Makati diversion channel and EDSA (center lane) under supervision of Second Metro Manila Engineering District;
EDSA, Caloocan City, northbound lane going to Monumento, sixth lane from center island, between G. De Jesus St. and Tirona St. under supervision of Third Metro Manila Engineering District Office;
EDSA, Quezon City, southbound first lane and second lane from West Avenue to Quezon Avenue, under supervision of Quezon City First Engineering District Office;
EDSA, Quezon City, fourth lane northbound from Corregidor to Fema Road under supervision of Quezon City First Engineering District Office;
Fairview Avenue second lane southbound from Marlboro St. to Puregold Market under supervision of Quezon City First Engineering District Office;
EDSA northbound going to Cubao area, first lane from sidewalk, between Gate 3 and Gate 2 of Camp Aguinaldo under supervsion of Quezon City Second Engineering District Office;
B. Serrano Avenue, eastbound going to Katipunan Avenue, second lane from sidewalk, between 20th Avenue and Katipunan Avenue under supervision of Quezon City Second Engineering District Office;
C3 Road, Navotas City eastbound from North Bay Blvd. to C3 Bridge, under supervision of Malabon Navotas District Engineering Office; and
Blumentritt St., Sampaloc, Manila, Maria Clara to Laon-Laan Streets (reblocking), Laon-Laan to P. Florentino Streets (asphalt overlay) under supervision of North Manila Engineering District.

The DPWH said the repair and maintenance schedule has been coordinated with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
