'Bourne' shooting surprises motorists on Recto Avenue

Traffic along C.M. Recto Avenue in Manila was disrupted Saturday due to a shooting of scenes for the upcoming spy thriller "The Bourne Legacy." Some motorists and drivers complained they were not informed of the closure of some parts of the road, according to a report on GMA News' "Balitanghali." Producers apologized for the inconvenience. The report quoted them as saying they initially planned to shoot the scenes at Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa but thought it could worsen traffic there. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) posted an advisory on its Twitter account early Saturday, but did not indicate it was for the film's shooting. It only said C.M. Recto Avenue's westbound part was closed to traffic effective "1:00 a.m. onwards." Closed was the portion of C.M. Recto Avenue from Legarda to Evangelista Streets. A counterflow was to be implemented along the road. It said the alternative routes are:

- Vehicles coming from Sampaloc area Utilizing J. Fajardo St. bound for Quiapo shall turn at Eranshaw St. to Legarda St. to destination. - Public utility buses coming from Quiapo Area bound for San Juan, Taytay and Cainta utilizing CM recto shall go straight Quezon Blvd. right Lerma to España to destination. - Private and Heavy vehicles are advised to take alternate route.
"Expect HEAVY TRAFFIC. Sorry for the inconvenience," the MMDA said. — LBG, GMA News
