LRT1 Monumento Station operations resume
A day after being forced to shut down due to the fire at a nearby mall, the Light Rail Transit's Monumento Station resumed operations Sunday. LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera on his Twitter account said "LRT-1 Monumento Station (is) back to operational status as of 5 a.m. today (Sunday)." On Saturday afternoon, the LRT-1 was forced to bypass the Monumento station due to the fire that hit the nearby Grand Central mall in Caloocan City. The fire, which started Friday night, was placed under control only before dawn Sunday. At the time, Cabrera said the LRT-1 operations would continue but would not stop at the Monumento station and would instead go straight to the Balintawak and Roosevelt stations. The LRT-1 links Roosevelt in Quezon City with Baclaran in southern Metro Manila. — LBG, GMA News
