Caloocan mall fire enters 4th day, firemen watch 4th floor

As the fire at a Caloocan City mall reached its fourth day Tuesday, firefighters are focusing their efforts on keeping it from reaching the building's fourth floor.

Firefighters are wary of the fire worsening if it reaches the fourth floor of the Ever Gotesco Grand Central mall as it is where combustible textiles are stored, radio dzBB reported.

The report said the Bureau of Fire Protection admitted it cannot give a timetable on when firefighters can finally put the fire out.

While the fire was placed "under control" before midnight of Saturday or more than 24 hours after the fire started, it has yet to be put out.

The fire started last Friday night even as firefighters could not quite put it out during the weekend.

On Saturday, smoke from the burning mall affected the operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1's Monumento station, forcing the LRT Authority to temporarily bypass it.

Meanwhile, firefighters inspected another branch of the Ever Gotesco mall along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City Monday.

The firefighters checked if the Quezon City mall had sufficient firefighting equipment.

Fire hits car showroom

Meanwhile, a fire of undetermined origin damaged a showroom of a luxury car dealer in Libis in Quezon City.

But the fire reached only the first alarm before firefighters put it out, dzBB reported.
