Finally, Caloocan mall fire declared 'out'
Four days after it broke out, the fire that razed the Ever Gotesco Grand Central Mall in Caloocan City last weekend was finally declared "out" Tuesday morning.
Bureau of Fire Protection Metro Manila head Chief Superintendent Santiago Laguna declared "fire out" at the mall as of 7:25 a.m., radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported.
The fire started shortly before 11 p.m. last Friday, and reached Task Force Delta. An initial investigation showed the fire started at a stall selling shoes.
Smoke from the fire briefly affected the operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1's Monumento station.
At least 17 people, most of them firefighters, suffered injuries while battling the blaze, the report said.
Arson investigators are now looking into what caused the fire. –KG, GMA News
