Computer glitch briefly halts LRT-2 operations

A computer glitch briefly halted the operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 that links C.M. Recto in Manila to Santolan in Marikina City early Monday.

LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the glitch stopped operations at 5:59 a.m., radio dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa reported.

Cabrera said their initial findings indicated their computerized signaling system hung, effectively stopping the LRT-2 system at rush hour.

He said the problem appeared to be fixed at 6:29 a.m., with the LRT-2 operations returning to normal by that time.

The LRT system has been besieged by several mechanical problems in recent months.

Earlier this month, the LRTA had its LRT-1 and 2, and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3, take a Holy Week break for maintenance work. –KG, GMA News
