Thursday classes suspended in Navotas, Valenzuela, 2 Malabon areas

After being inundated by heavy rain and floods, Navotas, Valenzuela and Malabon Cities suspended Thursday classes in their jurisdictions.

Navotas City said Thursday's suspension applies to all school levels, while the suspensions by Valenzuela and Malabon Cities applies to classes up to the high school level.

"Sinuspend natin ang klase, all levels, hanggang kolehiyo," said Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco during a late Wednesday interview on dzBB radio.

Tiangco said almost all villages in the city had been affected by the floods brought by Wednesday’s heavy rain.

He added that forecasts projected more rainy weather on Thursday.

Furthermore, some schools are currently being used as evacuation centers.

Wednesday afternoon, Tiangco said floodwaters had started to slowly subside. Some evacuated families are returning to their homes.

Meanwhile, dzBB's Roland Bola quoted Malabon City public information office head Bong Padua as saying classes up to the high school level in Dampalit and Panghulo villages will be suspended.
