Pair posing as 'Eat Bulaga' staff arrested for prize scam

Two brothers posing as staff members of a popular noontime show were arrested in Manila over the weekend after allegedly trying to dupe a woman into buying their products in exchange for a supposed sure win in one of the show's games.

Police said the woman had already fallen victim to the racket last month, and sought police assistance against the brothers, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported Sunday.

Manila Police District Tondo station head Superintendent Ernesto Tendero identified the two as Anthony and Alejandro Ramos of Maypajo in Caloocan City.

He said the two brothers allegedly introduced themselves as staff members of the noontime show "Eat Bulaga."

Initial investigation showed the brothers approached a resident, "Elizabeth," and allegedly urged her to buy one of their products worth P4,000 - supposedly in exchange for a sure win in one of the show's games.

They allegedly promised her she could win as much as P25,000 in the show's game, and eventually get her P4,000 back.
