LRT Line 2 operations stalled at least 2 hours Wednesday evening
For nearly two hours Wednesday night, another glitch stalled the operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2, delaying and inconveniencing commuters.
LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera said all trains were momentarily placed on hold position after one train stalled at the C.M. Recto Avenue station.
"May technical problem ang isang train sa Recto, technicians working on it. All trains are on hold position (One of the trains had a technical problem at C.M. Recto, technicians are working on it. All trains are on hold position)," Cabrera said on his Twitter account.
In a separate interview on dzBB radio, Cabrera said the problem involved a part of the train that connects with the electric power line.
He said that until the problem could be fixed, the Santolan-bound train was clogging up the system. The LRT-2 connects Manila and Santolan.
"Nakatengga ang tren so hindi makagalaw, nakabara sa riles. Pinababa muna ang pasahero (The train is stuck and unfortunately clogging the system so we were forced to let the passengers off)," he said on dzBB radio.
He said the disruption occurred at about 7:50 p.m.
At 9 p.m., Cabrera tweeted the LRT-2 had to implement degraded operations, with trains running only between Legarda and Santolan, and no trips between Recto and Legarda. Cabrera said the LRT-2's operations were back to normal by 9:18 p.m. — ELR, GMA News
