Teens celebrating 'monthsary' shot to death in QC

A "monthsary" celebration turned fatal for two teenagers as they were shot to death by two men dawn Sunday. The shooting occurred at Commonwealth village in Quezon City.

According to a radio report by dzBB's Rodil Vega, the victims were initially identified as Marian Guadia, 14; and Marlon Moralde, 19.

Recovered from the scene were at least seven 9-mm and .45-cal. casings, the report added.

PO2 Roldan Cornejo of the Quezon City Police District's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the victims were celebrating their "monthsary," or the one month anniversary of their relationship, when the murders occured.

Cornejo said witnesses described one of the gunmen as wearing a bonnet, or a knitted ski-mask, while the other wore a motorcycle helmet. The shooters fled on a motorcycle.

However, Moralde's sister, Candy, may be able to identify one of the gunmen, said Cornejo.

Moralde’s mother, Magdalena, said her son had no known enemy.

The initial investigation said that the Moralde family heard gunshots coming from outside their house. When they rushed outside to investigate, they saw Marlon's body sprawled on the ground.

They then saw one of the two gunmen who fired a shot in their direction.

Investigators said the gunmen may have been familiar with the neighborhood as they knew where to stash their motorcycle for a quick getaway.

Police are not discounting the possibility of a love triangle as the motive behind the fatal shootings. — DVM, GMA News
