NCRPO chief: Son still traumatized to lodge complaint vs 'kotong' cops
The son of National Capital Region Police Office head Chief Superintendent Leonaro Espina is still too traumatized to lodge a complaint against the two policemen he accused of trying to extort money from him earlier this week.
In a radio interview Friday, Espina said he is willing to wait for his son to recover from his trauma, although the Quezon City police said administrative and criminal proceedings against the two have started rolling.
"Naging traumatic ito sa aking anak. Hindi pa siya nagfa-file ng reklamo. In due time simula yan, napakamahiyain at napakabait na bata," Espina told dzBB radio.
Last Tuesday, two Quezon City policemen allegedly tried to extort money from Espina's son, who they accosted and accused of engaging in phone sex in his car.
Of the two, PO2 Resty del Rosario surfaced Thursday, but claimed he was just following orders from SPO4 Jose dela Peña, who remains at large.
A separate dzBB report quoted Superintendent Ferdinand Villanueva, the Quezon City police's District Investigation and Detective Management unit, as saying that they are coordinating with the Metro Manila police on sanctioning the two.
Villanueva was quoted in the report as saying the two policemen face administrative sanctions of grave misconduct and criminal charges of attempted robbery.
The elder Espina himself, however, said they are "taking everything in stride."
"Sabi niya he is more than willing to cooperate. I'm willing to give him all the time," he said.
He also said he is leaving to the QCPD on how to deal with Dela Peña, who remains at large and has not turned over his firearm. — RSJ, GMA News
