Calungsod image gets simple but warm welcome in Parañaque

The image of San Pedro Calungsod, the Philippines' second saint, received a simple but warm welcome at a parish in Parañaque City on Monday.

Catholic Church and local officials welcomed the image at the St. Andrew's Church, according to a report by radio dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo.

Devotees offered prayers to the image, which was flown back to the country from Rome last week, as a passenger aboard a Cathay Pacific flight.

Many vendors in the area sold Calungsod-related souvenir items such as keychains, refrigerator magnets, and even ballpens.

Police said there was no untoward incident recorded during the arrival of the image.

On Tuesday, the image is to be brought to the Good Shepherd Cathedral in Quezon City. –KG, GMA News
