4 killed, 4 wounded in Caloocan shooting spree
Four people were killed while four others were wounded, one of them seriously, after a seaman ran amuck and went on a shooting spree in Caloocan City Sunday night.
Police are verifying information the incident involving the seaman, initially identified as Rolly Rapit, stemmed from jealousy, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita.
Rapit allegedly had a fight with his live-in partner Eden dela Cruz past 10 p.m. at their home in Tierra Nova Royale Compound in Bagumbong village in Caloocan City, GMA News' Bam Alegre reported.
He was allegedly drunk at the time, the report added.
An initial investigation showed Rapit shot Dela Cruz with a 9-mm pistol, then went out of the house and fired at neighbors having a birthday party.
Killed in the shooting were Benjamin Templonuevo and mother Elizabeth, and one Arnold Diaz.
Another victim initially identified as Jomer Regala, 15, was critically wounded and rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center, according to a separate report by dzBB's Paulo Santos.
The Unang Balita report said police arrested Rapit and brought him to the police station where he eventually recovered from his hangover.
Rapit could not explain why he went on a shooting spree and wept, the report added. — RSJ, GMA News
