Cops nab suspect in MMDA enforcer's killing

A suspect who allegedly shot and killed a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic enforcer Sunday night was arrested as, like in a bad detective novel, the alleged killer returned to the scene of the crime. Police arrested shooter Romeo Hernandez, 39, after residents recognized him and tipped off authorities, radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported Tuesday. The Manila Police District's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said it had been looking for Hernandez for the killing of Arnold Rone, 43. Rone, a former police officer turned MMDA traffic enforcer, was shot near his home in Tondo, Manila while playing mahjong. Initial investigation showed Hernandez had a grudge against Rone, who he blamed for the killing of Hernandez's in-law in 2001. Rone was shot at least four times. — DVM, GMA News
