Baby dies after fall into Navotas river

A one-year-old baby died early Saturday after falling out of her cot and into the Navotas River in Navotas City.

 

The incident occurred along Lapu-Lapu Street at Barangay North Bay Boulevard, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported.

 

The report quoted the baby's aunt Susana Garcia as saying they were sleeping near the river when she woke and saw the baby already in the water, her skin pale.

 

Garcia said the baby's mother had died while her father was working at the pier.

 

Local officials were quoted in the report as saying they had tried to convince the residents to leave the area but the residents refused. — ELR, GMA News
