2 suspected robbers killed after defying PNP Manila checkpoint

Two suspected motorcycle-riding robbers were gunned down after defying a police checkpoint in Manila at midnight Monday. The motorcycle-riding pair came from C.M. Recto Avenue but did not stop at the checkpoint at Jose Abad Santos Street, according to a report on dzBB radio early Tuesday. Manila police said the two tried to fire at them when officers gave chase. Recovered from the suspects was a bag with money and a woman's ID, leading police to suspect the two may have mugged a victim before the encounter.
