MMDA to motorists: Avoid Quezon Ave for noontime show launch

Motorists were advised Saturday to avoid a portion of Quezon Avenue in Quezon City from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., when a new television noontime show will be launched at the Delta Theater.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the affected area may include Quezon Avenue approaches to Delta Theater near West Avenue.

"Avoid Quezon Avenue approaches to Delta Theater (West Ave.) (from) 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Expect heavy traffic due to launching of new TV show," it said.

In a separate post on its website, the MMDA said two westbound lanes of Quezon Avenue were to be temporarily closed.

MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Emerson Carlos advised motorists to use alternate routes as traffic is "expected to be heavy along Quezon Avenue going to West Avenue, particularly in front of Delta Theater."

The MMDA said Examiner Street along Quezon Avenue leading to West Avenue can be used as alternate route from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We will deploy more than 200 personnel to supervise traffic and crowd control in the area, together with the Quezon City Police and D.P.O.S.," Carlos said.

The MMDA said the show's organizers had requested the temporary closure of the two outermost lanes of Quezon Avenue beside Delta Theater.

It said the closed lanes will be used for the show's bikers and skateboarders.

"We will be providing the public with traffic advisories in the area through our LED billboards, Twitter and Facebook accounts," Carlos said.
