Security tightened at Megamall after robbery
Security was tightened at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City on Sunday after armed men robbed one of the jewelry stores in the mall Saturday night. Police presence at the mall was increased, even as police continue to analyze closed-circuit television footage of the incident to identify the men, government-run dzRB radio reported. The report said police could not immediately get a clear view of all of the robbers. An initial investigation showed the men fired shots during the robbery and scared shoppers at the mall. Police said their initial findings showed the men then mingled with the crowd getting out of the mall to escape. The mall, however, resumed operations shortly after the incident. No one was initially reported hurt in the robbery. A separate report on GMA News quoted Mandaluyong City police as saying the robbers needed just two minutes to pull off their heist. It added some 200 assorted necklaces, pendants and rings made of Saudi gold were stolen from two jewelry stores in Megamall. — BM, GMA News
