Floods, heavy rain force evacuation of 300 QC families
At least 300 families were evacuated from their homes after floods caused by heavy rain swamped their houses in Quezon City, Sunday night. The floods were still waist-deep along Peacock Street in East Fairview before dawn Monday, according to a report on dzBB radio. While no one was initially reported injured in the flooding, the report said rescue teams had difficulty getting to the affected families because of the narrow streets. Superintendent Samuel Tadeo of the Quezon City Fire Department said 300 families were evacuated, while around 200 homes were submerged in the flood. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Sunday night said that as at 9:50 p.m., it sent rescue teams aboard rubber boats to the Peacock Street area.
It also reported flooding in other areas of Metro Manila, including the corner of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Taft Avenue, northbound.FLOOD UPDATE: As of 9:50 PM, MMDA Rescue send rubber boat in Peacock St. East Fairview at the back of PLDT- chest deep. #mmda
