Traffic worsens near bus terminals as Holy Week exodus begins to peak
Traffic has started to become heavy near bus terminals in Metro Manila early Wednesday as passengers scrambled to find a ride to the provinces for the Holy Week. In Quezon City, taxis carrying departing passengers or waiting for arriving ones crowded the area near the Araneta Bus Terminal, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. Some 12,000 Filipinos, many of them taking advantage of the long Holy Week holidays, are expected to leave Metro Manila for the provinces on Wednesday, the report added. Some bus companies also advised passengers to travel as early as possible, before noon, to avoid the long queues for bus tickets. The report also said most of the morning's province-bound trips are heading for the Visayas area, while those in the afternoon are headed for Bicol. — DVM, GMA News
