Marikina fire destroys P5M in property


(Updated 7:44 a.m.) - At least P5 million in property was destroyed as a fire razed a videoke factory's warehouse in Marikina City before dawn Friday. The fire at the three-story building along General Ordoñez Street in Parang, Marikina City started at 11:36 p.m. Thursday. The fire reached Task Force Alpha at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, according to volunteer firefighter group TXTFire. The fire was finally confined at 1:50 a.m. Friday, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. It was placed under control before 7 a.m. Volunteer firefighter group TXTFire said the fire was put out at 7:14 a.m.  Firefighters had difficulty in putting out the blaze as the warehouse stored flammable materials, dzBB added.

Firefighters had to use chemical foam to put out the fire, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.

No one was initially reported injured in the fire.
