Glitch momentarily disrupts LRT-1 operations in Manila
A glitch disrupted the operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 Tuesday afternoon and passengers were forced to get off one of its coaches in Manila. The LRT Administration said the incident occurred at the Pedro Gil station at about 2:47 p.m., radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. LRTA spokesman Hernando Cabrera said one of the coaches stalled at the Pedro Gil Station for at least 10 minutes. Cabrera explained that the door of the affected coach would not close, forcing the LRT station personnel to have the passengers get off. Operations were eventually restored by 3:02 p.m. The LRT-1 links Roosevelt in Quezon City to Baclaran in southern Metro Manila. Only last April 12, a problem at the track facility at Roosevelt forced the LRT-1 to temporarily cut its trips. In this earlier occasion, Cabrera said one of the LRT-1's trains got stuck while making a U-turn at the reverting track, forcing the LRT-1 to limit trips between Baclaran and Monumento. — DVM, GMA News
