MRT operations disrupted after incident at Guadalupe station

(Updated 9:41 a.m.) - Operations of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) were disrupted Wednesday morning following an incident at the rail system's station in Guadalupe in Makati City.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic discipline office head Yves Gonzalez said the disruption affected operations between Guadalupe and Taft Avenue.

"(The MRT) temporarily stopped operations from Guadalupe to Taft, both directions. Initial report (showed) someone jumped on tracks at MRT Guadalupe station," Gonzalez said on his Twitter account.

He did not give further details, however.
The Department of Transportation and Communications said in a tweet the MRT would be on "provisional operations" for the moment.

It said the MRT will temporarily travel between North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard "until further notice."

A separate tweet by dzBB's Glen Juego quoted the Makati City Rescue unit as saying a "passenger" jumped on the tracks.

Meanwhile, another report by radio dzBB's Rodil Vega said some passengers had to get off the train and walk along the tracks.
