Rain from thunderstorm causes floods in parts of QC, Valenzuela

Rain from thunderstorms on Sunday evening caused floods in parts of Metro Manila, incuding Quezon and Valenzuela Cities, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.

In a flood alert posted on its Twitter account, the MMDA said floods was gutter-deep at the northbound part of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

As of 8:10 p.m., it said the floods were half-tire-deep at the Balintawak northbound area, and gutter-deep at E. Rodriguez corner Araneta Avenue.

The MMDA reminded motorists to use proper signal lights during heavy rains.

"Don’t use hazard lights unnecessarily as it might confuse the driver behind you," it said.

For its part, the North Luzon Expressway noted a "slight water buildup" under the Valenzuela northbound interchange.

It also said it has patrol crews out.

As of Sunday evening, PAGASA said thunderstorms are affecting parts of Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal and Quezon provinces.

PAGASA advised residents to "take precautionary measures against heavy rains, gusty winds, lightning strikes and possible flash floods." — BM, GMA News
