Walang pasok: Some schools suspend afternoon classes June 13 due to heavy rain


(Updated 5:05 p.m.) - Some schools in Metro Manila suspended their afternoon classes Thursday due to heavy rain and floods brought by a thunderstorm.

In Manila, the University of Santo Tomas and San Beda College were among the first to announce class suspensions via their Twitter accounts.

For its part, the Manila city government suspended classes in public elementary and high schools, as well as work at Manila City Hall effective 3 p.m., dzBB’s Cecilia Villarosa reported.

Meanwhile, classes in all levels in Pasay public schools, from elementary to college, have also been suspended as of 5 pm, according to dzBB reporter Weng Salvacion.

Schools suspending classes:

Adamson University: Classes were suspended in Adamson University, according to their official Twitter account. "Classes and work today are suspended effective 4:00 PM due to inclement weather. Stay safe, Adamsonians," their official account announced.

De La Salle-College of St. Benilde: Classes suspended starting 4:20 p.m.


De La Salle UniversityAs of 4:20 pm, the De La Salle University cancelled classes and offices in all levels and campuses, except for the satellite Science and Technology Complex located in Binan, Laguna.

Far Eastern University-Manila: The Manila campus of the Far Eastern University also suspended classes, according to its official Twitter feed. 

Far Eastern University, East Asia College: Suspended all afternoon classes.
 
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila: The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila also suspended classes and administrative work effective 4 p.m.

Philippine Women's University: Classes at PWU Manila were suspended.
 
San Beda CollegeSan Beda's official student publication The Bedan cited an announcement from College of Arts and Sciences vice dean Bryan Bustamante suspending classes from 4 p.m. onwards"Classes are suspended from 4PM onwards," it tweeted, quoting Bustamante.

San Sebastian College-Recoletos: Classes suspended as of 4:30 p.m.

St. Scholastica's College, Manila: The SSC Student Council tweeted the official announcement that classes have been suspended as of 4:30 pm, according to Dean Ching. 

St. Paul University, Quezon City: Classes suspended as of 4:30 p.m.

University of the East, Manila: Classes were suspended as announced by UE President Ester A. Garcia.


University of the Philippines-Manila: Also suspending classes was University of the Philippines Manila effective 3:30 p.m., as announced by Chancellor Manuel Agulto. 

University of Santo Tomas"Due to the continuous rainfall and flooding inside UST, all classes are suspended from 3PM onwards today," the UST Central Student Council said, citing an announcement from the office of the secretary general.
