Erap starts Manila cleanup with street sweeping amid protests

Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada started his first day in office Monday with a cleanup, literally, as he led a street sweeping activity in Carriedo in Quiapo using a walis tingting.

 

“We will give our full attention to the dredging of our esteros and we will relocate those living there to a safer place,” said Estrada after taking his oath of office on Sunday.

 

Protests, however, marked the former president's comeback to public service on Monday morning.
