Philip Salvador's ex-girlfriend survives QC ambush

One person was injured when two unidentified motorcycle-riding men on Wednesday shot the vehicle carrying businesswoman Cristina Decena and her son in Quezon City, a report on GMA News TV's "Quick Response Team" said.

Victim Helen Felesco, Decena's household helper, was brought to United Doctors Medical Center for treatment, while Decena and her son, Danilo, were unhurt.

"Nung narinig kong may bumabaril sa amin, dumapa ako," Decena said in a separate report on GMA News' "24 Oras."

The television report said Decena's Starex vehicle, which was being driven by Danilo, was cruising along Banawe street when the suspects fired at them.

The armed men tried to commandeer a taxi when the Honda motorcycle they were riding broke down, but had difficulty starting its engine. They instead rode a water delivery tricycle and drove up to Retiro street where they took a jeepney going to Quezon Avenue.

Decena went to a nearby hardware depot where she phoned and reported the incident to National Bureau of Investigation.

The report said the motorcycle's plate number (HI12O6) was intended for a Yamaha motor vehicle and registered to a certain Joy Villanueva from Catarman, Samar. It was last registered in 2005.

The police are still investigating the motive for the incident, the report said.

Decena is the estranged wife of comedian Ariel Villasanta. She was also romantically involved with actor Philip Salvador and former Caloocan mayor Rey Malonzo in the past. — Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News
