Isko seeks Divisoria vendors' cooperation anew as preps continue for night market
Manila officials met anew Friday with sidewalk vendors in the city's Divisoria market to seek their cooperation in the city government's plan for a night market there.
Officials led by Vice Mayor Isko Moreno explained to the vendors the night market is for their own good, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.
Moreno told the vendors that organizing them for the night market and keeping them off the streets would also address petty crimes in the area.
Sidewalk vendors in the city's Divisoria district had been a bane of sorts for shoppers and motorists as they clog the streets, with snatchers exploiting the situation to victimize buyers.
A photo tweeted by Juego showed Moreno in a dialog with the vendors.
In the meantime, the city government continued preparations to clean up the Divisoria area for the night market, clearing it of garbage.
The report said that as of Friday morning, Juan Luna and Recto Streets were relatively free of sidewalk vendors and no longer stank. — LBG, GMA News
