Marikina allays residents's fears of flooding from Luzon dams
Marikina City on Tuesday allayed fears by its residents of possible flooding due to water from other dams in Luzon causing the Marikina River to overflow.
In a post on its Twitter account, the city public information office branded as baseless the claims that water from Luzon dams may affect the Marikina River.
"HUWAG MABAHALA SA MALING BALITA: WALANG DAM na makakaapekto sa Marikina River," it said (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rm0m90).
It said water from La Mesa Dam in Quezon City, which spilled Tuesday noon, goes to the Tullahan River that affects Quezon City and the CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) area.
Water from Angat Dam in Bulacan will also not affect Marikina, it added.
It added Wawa Dam in Rizal has not been in operation since the 1970s, "so walang dapat ikabahala dito (so there is nothing to worry from Wawa)."
