Burgundy shootout: Police take 30 security guards into custody
Some 30 security guards of a Makati City building were taken into police custody following a shootout that killed one person and wounded another late Thursday afternoon.
Police are determining if the guards may have fired the deadly shot during Thursday's incident, radio dzBB reported early Friday.
Thursday's shootout stemmed from a property dispute between the officers of Burgundy Corporate Tower building in Makati City.
Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban Jr. blamed a sheriff who delivered a temporary restraining order for not coordinating with the Makati police.
Lukban said their initial findings showed the sheriff accompanied by his own set of security guards went to the building to serve the TRO but the guards at the building closed the tower, and the shootout ensued.
Reports by dzBB's Sam Nielsen Thursday evening said city police teams went to the area to provide security and assist residents or tenants who may have been trapped inside. — ELR, GMA News
