LRTA: Passenger gives birth inside LRT train

A passenger gave birth inside a Light Rail Transit train Sunday morning, the Light Rail Transit Authority said.

But the LRTA did not give further details on the birth, but said: "A passenger gave birth inside the train earlier today assisted by LRTA nurse, Red Cross personnel."

The LRTA did not say if the birth occurred aboard the LRT1 or LRT2.

LRT1 links Roosevelt in Quezon City and Baclaran Stations, while LRT2 links C.M. Recto in Manila and Santolan Stations.

Only last Aug. 22, a female passenger gave birth aboard a coach of the LRT-2 as it was heading for C.M. Recto Avenue in Manila.

At the time, LRTA spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the woman went into labor at about 8:50 a.m. as the train was approaching the Recto station from Legarda station. He said the baby was a girl. — LBG, GMA News
