Monumento Circle closed to traffic for Bonifacio rites
The Monumento Circle area in Caloocan City was closed to traffic early Saturday for rites marking the 150th birth anniversary of Filipino hero Andres Bonifacio.
Motorists were advised to take alternate routes even as the stage for Saturday morning's event was set up, radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported.
President Benigno Aquino III is expected to lead the ceremonies at the Bonifacio Monument.
Earlier, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the area at the monument would be totally closed from midnight.
It provided alternate routes including:
- From EDSA northbound toward Bonifacio Monument Circle: take Gen. Tinio or Gen. Simon St. to Calle Cuatro or Avocado St. to destination.
- From Samson Road Southbound to BMC: take Heroes St. or Mabini ave. towards 10th Ave. to destination.
- From Rizal Ave. to BMC: take 5th, 10th, 9th, 8th Ave. to B. Serrano to EDSA.
- From MacArthur Highway towards BMC: take Gen. Pascual ave. towards Mabini Ave. to 10th Ave. to destination or Dagatdagatan Ave.
